Meet your dentist
A South Bend native who never really left: St. Matthew, Marian High School and Notre Dame, then dental school at Indiana University. Working for a local oral surgeon who owned his own practice is what showed him what a life in dentistry could be. Today he helps patients through their dental needs in a transparent, honest way, in the community he grew up in.
For years Dr. Hickey practiced beside Dr. Kevin Campbell, with more than 50 years of experience between them and a shared rule: treat patients like family, with no pressure and no upselling. Dr. Campbell has retired, and that rule has not.

We are in-network with Aetna PPO, Cigna PPO, Guardian and Health Resources, Inc. (HRI/Paramount), and we are happy to work with out-of-network policies as well. We file your claims for you. Call with your policy details and we will tell you how we can use your benefits at your next visit.
Tell us. Between insurance, CareCredit financing with little to no interest, and a team that is glad to talk costs through with you, nobody has to put off treatment they need. You will only ever be recommended what fits your needs, priorities and budget.
Brief sensitivity to hot or cold that goes away quickly probably is not. A toothache that persists or keeps getting worse is, so call us. If you have trouble breathing or another life-threatening symptom, go to the ER first. For a knocked-out tooth, a broken tooth or a lost restoration, we should be your first call.
If you are in pain, call us straight away: we always do our best to see patients in pain the same day. For checkups and cleanings it is best to book a few months ahead, but call if an opening appears in your schedule, and we may be able to see you sooner.
In most cases, a single appointment. A small cavity gets a tooth-colored filling, and a more damaged tooth can often have a CEREC crown designed, milled and fitted in the same visit.
It differs from person to person, but in general Dr. Hickey recommends dental implants as the first option. They are the most natural-looking, durable and stable replacement, and the whole process can be completed here.
At least twice a year, once every six months. Some patients benefit from more frequent visits, but two is enough for most people to avoid serious and minor problems alike.
